Hello,

First of all, thank you for your work on Easy Cheat Detector. I believe ECD is one of the best cheat scanning tools available for Counter-Strike 1.6, and it is actively helping many server administrators.

I would like to request official support for Linux, especially for the native Steam version of Counter-Strike 1.6.

Linux gaming has grown significantly over the last few years thanks to Steam, Proton, and the Steam Deck. Many players now use distributions such as Arch Linux, CachyOS, EndeavourOS, Fedora, Ubuntu, Debian, Linux Mint, openSUSE, and others as their primary operating system.

Counter-Strike 1.6 also has an official native Linux version on Steam, and there is still an active community of Linux players. We would really appreciate it if Linux users were not overlooked.

My system

  • Operating System: CachyOS (Arch Linux)
  • Desktop Environment: KDE Plasma
  • Steam: Official native Linux Steam
  • Game: Counter-Strike 1.6 (Steam)
  • ECD: Latest version
The scanner launches correctly through Wine, but it cannot detect the running game because CS 1.6 is running as a native Linux process instead of a Windows process.

ECD always reports:

Status: Error – Game not available

This makes it impossible for Linux users to complete the scan.

For example, one of the servers I play on requires an ECD scan. If I cannot provide a valid report, I may be banned even though I am using the official Steam version of the game and not cheating. This is frustrating because the problem is not caused by cheating, but simply by the lack of Linux support.

I would kindly ask you to consider one of the following:

  • A native Linux version of Easy Cheat Detector.
  • Native detection of the Linux Steam version of Counter-Strike 1.6.
  • Support for Proton/Wine environments if native support is difficult to implement.
Linux gaming continues to grow every year, and many players have completely switched from Windows to Linux. Supporting Linux would allow honest players to continue using ECD without needing to install another operating system just to complete a cheat scan.

Thank you for your time and for everything you do for the Counter-Strike 1.6 community. I sincerely hope Linux support can be considered in a future update. It would mean a lot to many players.

У меня у самого manjaro, и единственный выход, это запускать windows версию CS1.6 например в Lutris, и в этом же префиксе wine запускать ECD.exe
нативного клиента под линукс и под macos скорее всего никогда не будет
